Not only does this project propose to make recommendations and influence public

policy on behalf of women and climate change, but the project is also focused on
educating and stimulating a youth movement that can help promote and champion
climate change resilience and adaptation. “These youths are a great source of
mobilization and transformation,” according to Juliana Mitkiewicz, coordinator of the
Center for Women and Territories at Insper’s Arquitecture of the Future Cities
Laboratory (“Insper’s Arq. Futuro Cities Lab”, 2023). A good place for UmRio to start
would be looking at waste generation and disposal combined with energy creation and
access and then analyzing how these two issues could be paired to improve climate
change resilience for residents and their quality of life while promoting social justice and
economic equality.
