FUTURE INITIATIVES

UmRio should consider the primary SAP initiatives for immediate implementation,

given that climate change is already negatively impacting residents of Morro do Castro.
These initiatives will not require extensive funding or staffing, and these initiatives
complement UmRio’s existing efforts. Once UmRio has hired a Climate Change
Resilience Coordinator and began surveying residents, more information will be
available to make future decisions on priorities and initiatives. Hiring a Climate Change
Resilience Coordinator will also signal to donors that UmRio is committed to preparing
and protecting UmRio families and Morro do Castro residents from the adverse effects
of climate change. At that point, it will be possible to consider sustainability strategies
requiring more extensive efforts, investments, and donations.
